Nathaniel H. Egleston
(7 May 1822 - 24 Aug 1912)
American forester, conservationist and theologian who was a Professor of Rhetoric at Williams College. With a longtime interest in the value forests, he was appointed to head (1883-1886) what became the U.S. Forest Service. He was one of the founders of the American Forestry Association (1882). Egleston wrote in popular magazines on various topics.
