Marlon Brando

American actor, film director and activist who co-founded (1959) the Hollywood chapter of SANE, an anti-nuclear arms group. His most well-known activism was when he sent Sacheen Littlefeather on his behalf to refuse his Oscar (for The Godfather in front of millions of viewers of the Awards ceremony, to protest Hollywood’s movie treatment of American Indians.
