Geoffrey F. Chew
(5 Jun 1924 - 12 Apr 2019)
American physicist who was a student of Enrico Fermi. For most of his career, he was faculty member with the Dept of Physics at the University of California, Berkeley (1957-1991). He was a leader of the S-matrix approach to the strong interaction and the associated bootstrap principle.

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again.
