Romanian-American engineer and management consultant who wrote books about quality control management. He popularized the 80/20 rule, which he named after the Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto. The Pareto Principle states that in many situations, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. (Pareto himself, wrote (1896) that approximately 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.)
