Ray Cummings
(30 Aug 1887 - 23 Jan 1957)
American novelist who penned 750 novels and short stories, under various pseudonyms, beginning with his first and most successful novel, The Girl in the Golden Atom (1922). Thus he helped popularize science fiction, but also wrote detective and horror stories little known today. He worked as a personal assistant and technical writer for Thomas Alva Edison, 1914-19.
