American palaeontologist and geologist who was a pioneer in paleoecology and he coined the term “biogeology” for that branch of science that deals with historical interactions between life processes and the geological record., and whose writings integrate interactions between biospheric, atmospheric, hydrospheric, lithospheric, and cosmological evolution.
