William Congreve
(24 Jan 1670 - 19 Jan 1729)
English playwright and poet who grew up in Ireland. He went to London to study law, and wrote began to write plays known for intricate plots and witty dialogue. His first play, The Old Bachelor (1693), was a remarkable success. He was buried in Westminster Abbey.

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again.
