James Montgomery
(4 Nov 1771 - 1854)
editor and poet whose humanitarian campaigning included the abolition of slavery and the exploitation of boy chimney sweeps. He also composed about four hundred hymns, though only a fraction of those are in present use.

In science it often happens that scientists say, 'You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken,' and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again.
