Arthur Handly Marks
(28 Mar 1864 - 7 Sep 1892)
who was was the son of a governor of Tennessee (Albert Smith Marks). He won an award in writing, and a prize in oratory while studying at university. In his early career, for three years he had a position in the consular service, spending some time in London, and in Berlin. In 1888, he married and returned to his family’s estate, but died of typhoid fever at the young age of 28.
